Living in Chatswood
Chatswood offers a prime central Sydney student accommodation spot.
Just 10km north of the Sydney CBD, Chatswood is a vibrant and central place to live. As a student it offers a great community atmosphere and lively lifestyle.
In recent years, Chatswood has grown into major centre for commercial, retail and entertainment activities. The train station is a central transport hub which has regular trains running directly to Macquarie University train station, which only take 10 minutes, making it a convenient option for Macquarie University students.
Trains also run to North Sydney and the CBD every few minutes, taking 15 minutes and 20 minutes respectively and Chatswood's major bus interchange provides access to Manly, Mosman, Balmoral Beach and many other areas of Sydney.
If you like to shop, then Chatswood is the place for you. It's shopping is world class. With two of Sydney’s largest shopping malls and lots of entertainment outlets, you are bound to find everything you need within short walking distance of our student accommodation at Iglu Chatswood. Westfield Chatswood (4 minute walk) offers a large array of eateries, clothing stores and a Hoyts cinema. Chatswood Chase (8 minute walk) is an upmarket centre with eateries and high end fashion stores. The Mandarin Centre (2 minute walk) has a ten pin bowling bar, cinema and a great range of cheap eateries.
That is another thing Chatswood has in abundance – eating options to suit any student budget. The District, a world class Asian-inspired dining precinct which boasts Tim Ho Wan – the world’s cheapest Michelin-starred restaurant. There is also the Mall Market on Thursday and Friday, great noodle and dumpling houses and popular Yum Cha eateries. If you prefer to cook yourself, three major supermarkets (Woolworths, Coles and Aldi) and a great Asian supermarket are all within walking distance. They all stock a wide variety of goods including fruit and vegetables, dairy products, bread, processed food and cleaning products. Westfield also has a great fresh food hall with fruit and vegetables, bakery, seafood, butchery and much more.

Deciding whether to live on-campus or off-campus
Apart from deciding what to study, this is probably one of the biggest decisions you will make if you are moving away from home to go to university or college. Both options have their own set of advantages so you need to way which one will work best for you.
