The changing face of Chatswood

Chatswood has long been a vibrant, happening suburb and with the opening of The District, at the Chatswood Interchange, there is more buzz than ever before.

The District is a new world class, Asian-inspired dining precinct centred around Chatswood railway station and bus interchange, making it a hub for residents and visitors alike.

So what exciting delights can be found at The District?

Without a doubt the biggest draw card is dim sum powerhouse Tim Ho Wan – the world’s cheapest Michelin-starred restaurant. This makes it perfect for any budget, including a student one.

Famous for generally just being delicious apparently you must try the sugar-dusted, crisply crusted barbecue pork buns. Located on the corner of Victoria Avenue and Railway Street, queues have been out the door since it opened on Saturday 28 March so make sure you’re not in a hurry when you visit.

But if the queue is too long there are plenty of other options to tempt your taste buds. Here is just a small sample:

Cheers Cut – a Taiwanese eatery which lists a “12 ounce fried chicken” with special sauces as its signature dish.

Chum Tang – a mixed regional Thai outlet that serves both classic and modern dishes using a clay stove and charcoal from Thailand

1 Ton Noodle – a noodle and wanton diner that makes its wantons on site daily.

Pepper Lunch Express – a DIY Japanese restaurant serving sizzling steaks, pasta, curry rice and its signature dish — pepper rice.

And there are more to come. You can visit the Chatswood Interchange Facebook page for regular updates.

It’s also worth mentioning other recent additions to Chatswood Interchange such as Woolworths, Australia Post, Asian City Grocery, Breadtop, Mrs Fields Cookies, Chatime, Sharetea, Priceline Pharmacy and lots of funky espresso bars.

Given all of this is located just metres from Iglu Chatswood, it makes Chatswood an even better place for students to live while they study in Sydney.
